Happy Father's Day

This past Saturday we attended a really wonderful funeral service for a true pioneer. Lee's paternal Grandfather passed away last week. His name was Richard Warren Ragsdale, but this proud fourth generation Texan went by "Dick."
Grandma and Grandpa were introduced to the gospel in '65 and never looked back. Two years after his baptism, Grandpa was called as the bishop. When we received the call, he said, "Are you sure there's not some mistake? I've only been a member for two years!" To which Harold B. Lee replied, "Brother Ragsdale, the Lord does not make mistakes." Grandpa went on to serve in numerous leadership capacities in the church, including the first temple presidency for the Dallas Texas temple. A large part of the membership in Denton is due to their missionary spirit. They still live up on the old 5M&R ranch (they being the "R"). The "M's" are the Martino family whose son was recently called to be a member of the quorum of the 70. All thanks again to Dick and Pat Ragsdale sharing their faith.
There are lots of great stories, lots of lovin', lots of laughs, lots of family gatherings, lots of southern hospitality, and lots of faith. A tremendous legacy.
It so happened that we were up visiting the Graham family the weekend before he passed and we made arrangements to stop by for a visit on our way home. Grandpa had suffered a heart attack almost exactly a year ago and was given a couple months to live. We were worried he would go while we were gone to reunions last summer. But we were blessed to keep him for a little while longer. We knew it was getting close though, and on our way up to visit, Lee said he felt as though we were going to say goodbye. He was right. We were able to get some priceless pictures with our kiddos and Grandpa, I hope Graham will remember him.
